چکیده

We consider the rapid motion of some general interface under a strong external driving force. Fast displacements of internal domain walls can be induced by magnetic, electric, or elastic fields of sufficient strength, or by exertion of a sizable plastic deformation. In the qualitatively different case of a solidification front a deep under-cooling of the melt can also provide a considerable growth rate which, in fact, can be of the order of several meters per second.
